Meet Sonny

Sonny Cashbaugh is a worship artist, psalmist, and atmosphere-shifter from Youngstown, Ohio. His journey into music began not with training, but with a miracle. At the age of thirteen, as his eyesight deteriorated rapidly due to glaucoma, Sonny found himself in a season of deep discouragement. One day, during recovery from multiple surgeries and unable to play the sport he loved, he discovered his mother’s old folk guitar. What happened next would shape the rest of his life.

With no formal instruction and vision fading, Sonny placed his hands on the strings—and the gift of music came instantly. Chord progressions made sense. Melodies poured out. Prayers became songs. Tears became psalms. In that moment, the Lord awakened something supernatural within him: a calling to minister through prophetic worship.

Raised in a home rooted in faith, Sonny had walked with Jesus since the age of five. But this divine impartation transformed his worship from something familiar into something holy. What began as a lifeline in a dark season became a lifelong assignment—to change atmospheres with praise, worship, and the frequencies the Holy Spirit releases through him.

Over the years, Sonny has led worship across the country and beyond, ministering in Hawaii, England, California, Tennessee, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and throughout Ohio. His ministry has reached prisons, addiction recovery centers, women’s conferences, outdoor revivals, city outreaches, and countless churches. Every environment becomes an altar where God heals, restores, delivers, and saves.

For more than twenty years, Sonny has also served as an educator in the inner city of Youngstown, where God continues to use his musical gifting to bring hope, breakthrough, and transformation to children and young adults—including those with profound autism. Even in his ongoing journey with legal blindness, Sonny’s testimony remains the same: the Holy Spirit is my strength, my vision, and my guide.

Today, Sonny ministers as a worship leader, teacher, and prophetic psalmist devoted to releasing the sound of freedom. His desire is simple—to worship for an audience of One and to lead others into encounters that bring salvation, healing, deliverance, and restoration. His life is a declaration of God’s power, faithfulness, and the miracle of obedience.
